Class of 2019, Management; Coordinator of Community Engagement at St. Mary’s University
“My Marianist education allowed me to discover my vocation. St. Mary’s gave me the opportunity to be part of a community that challenged me to work for the common good. I saw injustices in our local and global community and felt called to do more as I witnessed the educational inequalities found on the West Side of San Antonio. I spent two summers living in an intentional community while working to provide a summer camp for children from low-income families. Through the program, I learned about my identity and recognized my own privilege, which allowed me to better understand how I could work with my peers and neighbors to create more opportunities. This experience ultimately led me to understand my passion and calling to work in higher education. Our Marianist education calls us to action to see how our gifts, talents and passions can meet the world’s needs.”
