Professor of Art and Design Participates in 2023 Art for Change International Artist Residency
Engaging in a life-changing experience, Suki Kwon, University of Dayton Professor of Art and Design, was selected to participate in a two-week residency with artists from around the world. Using a variety of media, residents created pieces showcasing their personal exploration of nature. Kwon’s capstone piece, Mussoori Mandala, was hung in the forest for the breeze to disperse the prayers it contained. Kwon drew inspiration from the various religious traditions she encountered in India to further engage with the theme “nature of difference.” Born and raised a Christian but heavily influenced by Buddhist culture, Kwon said she found valuable intersections between faith traditions in her artwork..
