Testimonials and Interviews — Students, Faculty, Staff and Administration: Will Randerson
Will Randerson, BBA Operations and Supply Chain Management ‘17; University of Dayton
My time at UD profoundly shaped my values and continues to impact my life today, particularly through three core experiences.
Community Building: UD taught me the value of a strong, supportive community – both personally and professionally. Whether I’m with friends, family, or colleagues, I strive to be fully present and foster meaningful connections with those around me.
Academic Insight and Compassion: In an elective course on the Mediterranean refugee crisis, taught by then-Ph.D. student (now Professor) Jason Heron, I learned how vital it is to focus on our shared humanity. In a deeply divided world, this understanding of compassion and respect for human dignity inspired me to see beyond differences and work toward unity – lessons that align closely with Marianist values.
Service and Camaraderie: My Army ROTC experience prepared me for a career of service, where selfless dedication is paramount. The Marianist values of service to others reinforced this commitment, and I found a deep camaraderie among my fellow Cadets. As a military officer, my role was often to unify Soldiers from diverse backgrounds into a cohesive, mission-focused team.
Remember to celebrate victories, big and small, whatever path you pursue – be it in education, work, or personal growth. Maintaining optimism and expressing gratitude to those who support you are powerful ways to live Marianist values daily.
